What to Know First
A repeatable check of the certificate holder, model schedule, standard, approved applications, status and special conditions.
- Get the current certificate from the scheme owner or issuing body.
- Match the holder, model, suffix, standard, approved applications and conditions.
- Keep product approval separate from system-design approval.
Use the official register
Start with the product label or supplier certificate, then search the certification body’s public register. A copied PDF may be old, altered or detached from its latest schedule.
Search by certificate number and by manufacturer because brand names can change.
Match the certificate to your product
Compare the legal holder, exact model, standard and edition, listed coverage, current status and all conditions. Product suffixes often define voltage, enclosure, protocol or performance class.
If the offered model does not appear, ask the issuing body or certificate holder - do not infer coverage.
- Certificate holder
- Exact product schedule
- Standard and edition
- Intended use and performance
- Validity and surveillance
- Limitations, X notes or conditions
Check which components work together
A certified panel may require listed detectors, power supplies and interfaces. A certified cylinder or nozzle does not approve a suppression design.
Record compatibility, installation, commissioning and authority acceptance separately.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a test report the same as a certificate?
No. A report records tests on samples; certification also identifies the products and applications covered, the holder and often ongoing surveillance under a scheme.
