Quick answer

Vietnam Fire Safety Requirements

Current procedures, building regulations, product documents and owner responsibilities for Vietnamese projects.

  • Check the current fire prevention law and procedures at the start of the project.

Confirm the Current Fire Prevention Design Procedure

Vietnam's fire prevention and rescue law and administrative procedures have changed in recent years. Confirm the procedure that applies on the submission date with the responsible authorities and design team.

Do not reuse an approval checklist from an older project without checking it.

Design to QCVN 06 and Applicable TCVN Standards

QCVN 06 sets fire safety requirements for buildings and works. The design may also call up Vietnamese standards for fire alarm, water systems, smoke control and other equipment.

Coordinate architecture, structure and building services so that fire compartments, escape and active systems work together.

  • Applicable regulation and standards
  • Design appraisal or notification requirements
  • Product and system documents
  • Acceptance and maintenance records

Complete Acceptance Testing and Owner Maintenance Records

The completed system must be tested and accepted under the procedure in force for the project. The owner must keep it operational, arrange maintenance and maintain the required site fire safety arrangements.

Review the fire strategy before changing the building use or layout.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which regulation covers building fire safety in Vietnam?

QCVN 06 is the national technical regulation for fire safety of buildings and works. Confirm the current edition and amendments used by the project.

Do fire designs still need government appraisal?

The procedure depends on the project and current law. Ask the responsible Vietnamese design team and authority to confirm the submission process in force when you apply.

What should be checked before importing fire equipment?

Confirm the exact model, required product inspection or conformity documents, Vietnamese labels and compatibility with the approved system. Alarm Supply can help prepare the product documents for review. Contact us to discuss your project.

Can a foreign fire standard replace Vietnamese requirements?

Not on its own. A foreign standard may support the design only where the project and Vietnamese rules allow it.

What must be completed before the building is used?

Complete the required testing and acceptance work, provide records and ensure the owner's fire safety organisation and maintenance arrangements are ready.

When should the fire design be reviewed again?

Review it if the occupancy, layout, production process, stored materials or connected building systems change.
